2026 Residencies
Artists are invited to spend a week as the "Artist in Residence" at the Clare Art House.

This is a fee-free opportunity.

Clare Art House is owned by the Clare and Gilbert Valleys Council and is situated at 8 Mill Street, Clare. It is a short walk from the Main Street shopping and café precinct. The Art House is part-occupied on permanent lease by Arts Collective Clare Valley, a group of local artists who have been working together to run a gallery space for over 10 years. The gallery is open 6 days a week, 10:30am – 3:00pm. Two rooms within the ArtHouse are available for use by other artists or groups. Our annual exhibition calendar includes local U3A and High School, a Youth Art Prize, SALA festival, Clare Valley Festival of the Lamb Art Prize, as well as visiting collectives from Adelaide.

In February and March 2026 we will be offering the opportunity for individual artists, at any stage of their art career and working in any medium, to apply for a one-week residency at Clare ArtHouse. Residencies will take place over 8 weeks. Artists will occupy one room and there will be two rooms available. There will also be a member of Arts Collective Clare Valley in residence. We aim to provide a vibrant and supportive space for working artists to create and sell art, conduct workshops or provide activities, meet with clients and connect with other artists. During your residency we want you to settle into the space and make it your own.

Each room has gallery lighting and hanging systems, natural light, polished floorboards, white walls and air conditioning. There is a shared kitchen area and bathroom. We can provide plinths, trestle tables, chairs and some display items. ACCV members are happy to provide support with hanging and set up if required. Your residency will be publicised through our social media sites, and we encourage you to invite your own contacts, followers, friends and family.

You will need to commit to being in residence during opening hours for the term of your residency. You may wish to share the space with a friend if you have complimentary practices.
