Peter Hughes

Artist

From an early age Peter has had a passion for the visual arts. He grew up in Quorn South Australia and, apart from several years studying at Uni SA & the Art School of SA, has spent his working life teaching Secondary Art in country schools across the Mid North of the state.

His artwork has spanned a range of media and subject matter. Initially working in pencil, soft pastel and ceramics, more recently he has worked predominantly in Oil Paint attending classes at the Central School of Art to develop his knowledge and skill in this media.

Peter sees himself as a Realist artist who is inspired by the small details of common objects & and has a fascination for the human form and portraiture in particular. He recently moved south to the Clare Valley and currently works from his studio in Watervale.
